This Privacy Policy explains how SaleSignal(“SaleSignal”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects your personal information when you use salesignal.caand related services. We are committed to handling your information in accordance with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws.

By using SaleSignal, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

Information we collect

We collect only what we need to run the service:

• Account information — your email address and basic profile details, provided through our authentication provider when you sign up or sign in.
• Watchlist and preferences — the products you choose to track, your alert settings, and target prices you set.
• Search and usage activity — search terms you enter, products you view, and clicks on outbound store links, used to operate and improve the service.
• Technical information — standard data such as device type, browser, approximate region, and log data, collected automatically to keep the service secure and reliable.
• Payment information — if you subscribe to Pro, payments are processed by our payment provider (Stripe). We do not store your full card details on our servers.

How we use your information

• To provide core features — price tracking, comparisons, and the Should I Buy Now recommendation.
• To send the alerts and emails you ask for, such as price-drop notifications on watched items.
• To personalize your experience and remember your preferences.
• To understand how the service is used and improve it (analytics — optional, see Cookies below).
• To keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations.

Cookies

We use necessary cookies to operate the service (for example, to keep you signed in) and optional analytics cookies that you can decline. You control optional cookies through our cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time. See our Cookie Policy for details.

Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information to anyone. We share information only with the service providers that help us operate SaleSignal, and only as needed to provide the service. These providers are bound to protect your information and use it only for the purposes we specify:

• Clerk — Account sign-in and management (privacy policy).
• Supabase — Database hosting (Canadian region) (privacy policy).
• Vercel — Website hosting and content delivery (privacy policy).
• Stripe — Payment processing for Pro subscriptions (privacy policy).
• Resend — Sending price-drop alerts and account emails (privacy policy).
• PostHog — Privacy-respecting product analytics (privacy policy).
• Sentry — Error monitoring and reliability (privacy policy).

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the service.

Where your information is stored

We host our database in a Canadian region, so account data is stored in Canada. Some service providers listed above may process limited data outside Canada; where that happens, the information remains protected by contractual and legal safeguards.

How long we keep your information

• Account data (email, watchlist, settings) is retained while your account is active and deleted within 30 days of an account deletion request.
• Price history is anonymous, factual market data with no link to you. It is retained indefinitely as part of the service and is not deleted when an account is closed.

Your rights and choices

Under PIPEDA, you have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate information.
• Request deletion of your account and associated personal data.
• Withdraw consent for optional analytics at any time.

You can delete your account and data from your account settings, or contact us at privacy@salesignal.ca. We respond to requests within the timelines required by law.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to address any issues promptly.

Children

SaleSignal is not directed to children and is intended for users who are the age of majority in their province. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice where appropriate.
